Grains close higher in Chicago

CHICAGO, March 11 (UPI) -- Grains closed higher on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday as the dollar index slipped 0.16 percent to 82.58 on the International Exchange.

Corn was up 7 1/2 to up 10 1/4; soybeans were up 3 1/4 to up 8 1/2; wheat was up 3 to up 4 and oats were up 2 to up 18 3/4.

Grains caught an updraft from equity markets, which extended a winning streak Monday and from a weaker dollar, which gave commodities a boost.

The prices:

Corn: Mar 7.34 1/2 up 9 1/4; May 7.11 1/4 up 7 3/4; Jly 6.90 3/4 up 10 1/4; Sep 5.78 3/4 up 7 1/2.

Soybeans: Mar 15.14 3/4 up 6 1/4; May 14.79 1/2 up 8 1/2; Jly 14.54 3/4 up 7 1/2; Aug 14.07 1/4 up 3 1/4.

Wheat: Mar 6.98 up 4; May 7.00 up 3; Jly 7.01 3/4 up 3; Sep 7.08 1/4 up 3.

Oats: Mar 4.23 up 18 3/4; May 3.93 up 5; Jly 3.82 up 2; Sep 3.71 3/4 up 2.
