Grains mostly higher in Chicago

CHICAGO, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Grains were mostly higher Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade, despite a 0.63 percent gain in the dollar index.

Corn was up 2 1/2 to up 5 1/4. Soybeans were up 10 3/4 to up 14. Wheat was up 6 to up 6 1/2. Oats were off 1/4 to up 10.

Soybeans set the pace Wednesday with prices climbing while energy and metals slid.

Soybeans made headway as a private satellite company reduced its estimate of the harvest in Argentina from 51.6 million metric tons to 49.6 million.

The prices:

Corn: Mar 7.00 1/2, up 5 1/4; May 6.96 1/4, up 4 1/4; Jly 6.82 3/4, up 2 1/2; Sep 5.81 1/4, up 3 1/2.

Soybeans: Mar 14.82 3/4, up 12 1/2; May 14.68 1/2, up 11 1/4; Jly 14.56 1/4, up 10 3/4; Aug 14.17 3/4, up 14.

Wheat: Mar 7.38 1/2, up 6 1/4; May 7.45 1/4, up 6 1/2; Jly 7.48, up 6 1/4; Sep 7.56 1/4, up 6.

Oats: Mar 3.87 3/4, up 10; May 3.88 1/2, up 5 1/4; Jly 3.82 1/2, up 1/2; Sep 3.77 1/2 off 1/4.
