Grains mostly higher Monday

CHICAGO, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mostly higher Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Corn was up 6 1/4 to up 8 1/2, soybeans were up 4 3/4 to up 7 1/2, wheat was up 2 3/4 to up 4 and oats were up off 1 3/4 to off 1.

Early gains in corn held up as weekly inspection figures beat expectations. Wheat moved higher in sympathy with corn and soybean, which found support from field conditions in Brazil that remain dry.

The prices:

Corn: Mar 7.29 1/4 up 8 1/2, May 7.29 1/4 up 7 3/4, Jly 7.20 1/2 up 7 3/4, Sep 6.13 1/2 up 6 1/4.

Soybeans: Mar 14.47 3/4 up 6 3/4, May 14.33 1/2 up 7 1/2, Jly 14.22 3/4 up 5, Aug 13.95 3/4 up 4 3/4.

Wheat: Mar 7.79 1/4 up 2 3/4, May 7.88 up 3 1/4, Jly 7.92 1/2 up 4, Sep 8.01 up 3 3/4.

Oats: Mar 3.61 1/4 off 1 3/4, May 3.69 off 1, Jly 3.73 1/2 off 1 1/2, Sep 3.73 1/4 off 1.
