Gold drops slightly

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Gold for December slipped Wednesday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange as equities closed with slight gains on Wall Street.

Gold closed at $1,751.10 per troy ounce, down $1.90 and silver shed 1 cent to $32.22.

The euro rose to $1.3112 from Tuesday's $1.3055. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 79.10 yen from 78.89 yen.

The British pound fell to $1.6139, while the Canadian dollar fell to 97.83 cents.
