Wooden arc hammocks recalled

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Hayneedle Inc. of Omaha is recalling wooden arc hammocks after receiving 18 reports of the hammock stands breaking, leading to falls, regulators said.

One of the falls resulted in an injury, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

The wooden, boat-like frames of the hammocks are made with layers of wood that can separate, leading to instability, the commission said.

The company is calling back 131 Shorea Wooden Arc Hammock Stands that were made in Vietnam and sold nationwide during June and July 2012 for about $380.

Consumers were advised to stop using the hammock stand and return it to Hayneedle. The company is ready to offer consumers either a full refund, including shipping costs, or a replacement hammock stand at no cost.

Consumers can call 866-508-1142 for information.
