Gold gains slightly

NEW YORK, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Gold prices added $2.90 to reach $1,605.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Wednesday.

Silver held steady, gaining a penny to $27.85 an ounce.

Against the euro, the dollar was $1.2288 from $1.2322 Tuesday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.92 from 78.73 yen.

The British pound was $1.5682 from $1.5677. Against the Canadian dollar, the U.S. dollar was 0.9893 Wednesday from 0.9923 Tuesday.
