Kuwait halts oil exports over weather

KUWAIT CITY, June 4 (UPI) -- Kuwait halted oil exports following sandstorms that paralyzed the state, creating a shortfall of 3 million barrels a day on world markets, officials said.

A spokesman for Kuwait National Petroleum Co. told the Yemen Telegram Monday it was unclear when the company would resume its shipments.

The Kuwait Times said neighboring Iraq also was forced to reduce production to 1.65 million barrels per day from 2.25 million barrels as a result of high winds and dust storms.
