Grain futures mostly higher Monday

CHICAGO, May 21 (UPI) -- Grain futures Monday were mostly higher on the Chicago Board of Trade, as the dollar index provided some support, falling 0.18 percent.

Corn was off 2 1/2 to up 4, soybeans were up 7 1/2 to up 18 1/4, wheat was up 6 3/4 to up 11 and oats were up 2.

Corn prices with the U.S. Department of Agriculture weekly crop data showing farmers reporting 96 percent of the corn acreage planted for the year. Wheat futures made gains with the winter wheat harvest underway -- farmers reporting 3 percent of the crop is now off the fields. The report on soybeans showed 76 percent of the crop planted against a long-term average of 42 percent for this week of the year.

Corn: Jly 6.33 off 2 1/2, Sep 5.48 1/2 up 2, Dec 5.40 1/2 up 3 1/2, Mar 5.50 1/2 up 4.

Soybeans: Jly 14.12 1/2 up 7 1/2, 13.95 3/4 up 14 3/4, 13.45 up 18, 13.06 1/4 up 18 1/4.

Wheat: Jly 7.04 up 8 3/4, Sep 7.14 up 11, Dec 7.29 1/4 up 9 1/4, Mar 7.39 3/4 up 6 3/4.

Oats: Jly 3.42, Sep 3.46 1/2, Dec 3.52, Mar 3.55 1/4 -- all up 2.
