Grains mixed Thursday

CHICAGO, May 10 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday, with soybeans making sharp gains in response to the global Supply/Demand report.

Corn was off 9 1/2 to off 15 3/4, soybeans were up 24 to up 25 1/2, wheat was up 1 1/4 to up 3 1/2 and oats were off 1 to up 1 1/4.

Corn futures dropped, with a billion bushels added to the world production estimate, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's report said. A bullish report for soybeans prompted sharp gains on tight supplies. Wheat prices were slightly higher, as the report was considered neutral for wheat.

Corn: May 6.25 1/2 off 15 3/4, Jly 5.87 1/2 off 19 3/4, Sep 5.13 1/2 off 13 1/2, Dec 5.07 1/4 off 9 1/2.

Soybeans: May 14.52 1/4 up 24 1/2, Jly 14.55 1/4 up 25, Aug, 14.41 3/4 up 25 1/2, Sep 13.87 up 24.

Wheat: May 5.94 3/4 up 3 1/2, Jly 6.01 1/4 up 1 1/4, Sep 6.16 1/2 up 1 3/4, Dec 6.40 3/4 up 1 3/4.

Oats: May 3.33 1/4 up 1 1/4, Jly 3.36 unchanged, Sep 3.40 off 1/2, Dec 3.44 off 1.
