Grain futures mixed

CHICAGO, May 3 (UPI) -- Grain futures were mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday, with traders focused on the U.S. Department of Agriculture export sales report.

Corn was off 1 3/4 to up 8 1/2, soybeans were off 9 3/4 to off 13 1/4, wheat was up 1 to up 3 and oats were up 5 1/2 to up 7 1/4.

Corn traded up and down, with the USDA reporting 1.33 million metric tons in sale for 2011-2012 and 2.14 million for 2012-2013.

Wheat prices rose slightly, with support from concerns that hot and dry weather could be stressful for the hard red winter wheat crop.

Soybean prices dropped as the dollar index was flat, dropping 0.03 percent to 79.19 on the International Exchange.

Corn: May 6.50 3/4 up 8 1/2, Jly 6.14 1/2 up 3, Sep 5.37 1/2 off 1 3/4, Dec 5.29 1/2 off 1 1/2.

Soybeans: May 14.68 3/4 off 11 1/4, Jly 14.73 1/2 off 11 1/2, Aug, 14.52 1/2 off 13 1/4, Sep 14.00 off 9 3/4.

Wheat: May 6.08 1/4 up 1 1/4, Jly 6.15 1/2 up 1, Sep 6.31 1/2 up 1 1/4, Dec 6.56 3/4 up 3.

Oats: May 3.36 up 5 3/4, Jly 3.44 1/2 up 7 1/4, Sep 3.48 up 6 3/4, Dec 3.53 up 5 1/2.
