DETROIT, April 7 (UPI) -- Ford Motor Co. said Saturday it is recalling more than 140,000 of its 2012 Focus cars, citing potentially faulty windshield wipers.

The problem, Ford said, is a seal plug on the passenger side windshield wiper motor electrical connector of 2012 models built through Oct. 18 at its assembly plant in Wayne, Mich., the Detroit Free Press reported. If the plug is missing, water could get into the motor, rendering it inoperative.

Ford said it will install a redesigned seal plug. On cars in which the plug is missing, dealers also will grease the electrical connector and ensure the wipers are working.

Ford didn't say whether there were any crashes or injuries related to the wiper issue, the newspaper said.
