NEW YORK, April 4 (UPI) -- Gold futures dropped sharply Wednesday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange with prices pressured by a stronger dollar.
Gold gave up $52.20 to reach $1,619.80 per troy ounce with the dollar index up 0.44 percent on the International Exchange.

Silver shed $2.06 cents to $31.20 an ounce.
The euro fell to 1.3238 from Tuesday's $1.3234. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 82.44 from Tuesday's 82.81 yen.
The British pound fell to $1.5886 from $1.915. The dollar was 7.7648 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7649 Hong Kong dollars.
Against the Canadian dollar, the greenback was 0.9964 from 0.991 Canadian. The Australian dollar was $1.0256 from $1.0332.
