Grains close mixed Friday

CHICAGO, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Grains futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed mixed Friday with soybeans slightly higher, corn and wheat lower and oats flat.

Corn was off 5 1/4 to off 8 1/2, soybeans were up 1 1/4 to up 1 3/4, wheat was off 16 to off 20 3/4 and oats were unchanged to up 1 1/4.

Corn futures fell with a push from the dollar index, which rose 0.62 percent to 79.13, putting pressure on commodities traded in U.S. dollars. Wheat closed sharply lower as traders moved toward profit-taking. Egypt announced a tender, but after the close of market. Improved weather in South America and a higher dollar put pressure on soybeans. A sale to China of 120,000 metric tons gave soybeans price support Friday.

Corn: Mar 6.31 3/4 off 5 1/4, May 6.35 1/2 off 6, Jly 6.39 1/4, off 6 1/2, Sep 5.84 1/2 off 8 1/2.

Soybeans: Mar 12.29 up 1 1/2, May 12.37 1/2 up 1 1/2, Jly 12.47 up 1 1/4 , Aug 12.45 3/4 up 1 3/4.

Wheat: Mar 6.30 off 16, May 6.38 off 17 1/4, Jly 6.48 1/2 off 19 1/2, Sep 6.65 off 20 3/4.

Oats: Mar 3.18 unchanged, May 3.09 1/2 unchanged, Jly 3.06 3/4 up 1 1/4, Sep 3.09 1/2 unchanged.
