Ford recalls some Fusions and Milans

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. automaker Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling 128,696 Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles due to a problem with fracturing wheel studs.

The recall involves 2010-11 vehicles that were outfitted with 17-inch steel wheels, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The recall is further restricted to cars built April 1 through April 30, 2009 or between Dec. 1, 2009, through Nov. 13, 2010, The Detroit News reported Saturday.

Safety regulators said the problem could cause the vehicle to vibrate and, in time, cause the wheels to separate from the car.

Ford said dealers would provide a free inspection and replace rear brake discs affected by the problem, if necessary.
