Cadillac to unveil ATS luxury sedan

DETROIT, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Cadillac said it would unveil its ATS luxury sedan on the eve of Detroit's North American International Auto show in early January.

The plan is to reveal the new model at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit on Jan. 8, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.

The car, which will be produced in Michigan at the General Motors Lansing Grand River assembly plant, is expected to compete on the market with the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars, the Audi 4 and the Lexus ES350, the newspaper said.

GM spokesman David Caldwell said, "Sometimes it can be a bit refreshing to step outside the box," referring to the choice of unveiling the sedan at the College for Creative Studies -- a school GM supported with donations to help with a $145 million renovation, the Free Press said.

"We can also do a few things there that we can't do as part of a traditional exhibit," Caldwell said.
