Las Vegas Hilton takes a new name

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The 2,950-room Las Vegas Hilton said it's changing its name to the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, without explaining how it lost its rights to the Hilton brand name.

"We are extremely excited as we move into this next phase of our journey. Guests can experience the new look of the LVH -- Las Vegas Hotel & Casino -- continue to book room reservations and, more importantly, read about who we are, what we offer and other frequently asked questions," said Ken Ciancimino, executive vice president of administration.

The hotel said it had also started a new Web site at thelvh.com, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

Behind the scenes, investment bank Goldman Sachs is attempting to have the hotel turned over to a receiver and possibly force a foreclosure on the business due to loan defaults.

The principal own of the hotel is Colony Capital LLC of Los Angeles. The principal owner of Colony Capital LLC is billionaire Thomas Barrack, the newspaper said.
