Crude oil inventories rise

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. crude oil inventories rose in the week after three weeks of declines, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday.

After dropping by 18 million barrels in the previous three weeks, oil inventories rose by 1.9 million barrels in the week ending Friday.

Crude oil supplies rose to 341 million barrels with supplies remaining above the upper limit for the average range for this time of year, the EIA said.

Supplies of distillate fuels rose by 100,000 barrels to 157.7 million barrels, while gasoline inventories rose by 800,000 barrels to 214.9 million barrels.

Gasoline stockpiles are in the upper limit of the average range for this time of year, the agency said.

Inventories of finished gasoline were unchanged, while blending component supplies rose, the agency said.

The EIA said the national average price of regular gasoline fell in the week by 8.15 cents to $3.509 per gallon on Sept. 26, which put the price of gasoline 83.5 cents above the price during the same week of 2010.
