Chefmate blenders recalled

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of 304,000 Chefmate 6-Speed Blenders due to a laceration hazard.

The plastic pitcher can separate from the blade assembly, exposing the rotating blades, which pose a risk of serious injury, the commission said.

The blenders were made by Select Brands of Lenaxa, Kan., and sold nationwide by Target stores from September 2007 through February 2011 for about $14.

They were manufactured in China.

The recall involves all Chefmate 6-Speed Blenders.

The base of the blender is white with Chefmate printed on the front. They have five speeds controlled by white buttons labeled 1 through 5 and one gray button labeled Pulse and Off.

Consumers were advised to stop using the blenders and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-440-0680 for information.
