Gold, silver prices slip

NEW YORK, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Gold prices slipped Thursday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, losing $2.60 to settle at $1,829.10 an ounce.

Silver also closed lower, dropping 24 cents to $41.53 an ounce.

The euro fell to $1.4271 Thursday from $1.4378 Wednesday. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 76.81 yen from 76.64 yen Wednesday.

The British pound fell to $1.5994 Thursday from $1.6255 Wednesday. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the greenback dipped to 7.7826 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7855 Hong Kong dollars.

The dollar fell to 0.9758 Canadian dollars from 0.9779 Canadian Wednesday. It fell to 1,062.84 South Korean won from 1,066.44 South Korean won.
