Grain futures move higher Tuesday

CHICAGO, July 26 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed higher Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade as the dollar index fell 0.81 percent, giving a boost to commodities.

Corn was up 11 to up 12 1/4, soybeans were up 15 3/4 to up 17 1/2, wheat was off 1 3/4 to off 3 3/4 and oats were up 4 1/4 to up 4 3/4.

Corn futures rose as the dollar lost strength with the budget impasse in Washington nearing a critical Aug. 2 deadline. Wheat prices gained with the dollar providing support as Egypt bought 120,000 metric tons from Russia. Soybeans saw gains as weather forecasts called for a return of hot weather.

Corn: Sep 6.89 3/4 up 11, Dec 6.86 3/4 up 12 1/4, Mar 6.99 1/2 up 12 1/4, May 7.05 3/4 up 12.

Soybeans: Aug 13.83 up 17 1/2, Sep 13.80 1/4 up 15 3/4, Nov 13.88 3/4 up 16 3/4, Jan 13.98 1/2 up 16 1/2.

Wheat: Sep 6.94 up 5 1/2, Dec 7.34 1/2 up 5 1/2, Mar 7.67 1/2 up 5 3/4, May 7.83 up 5 1/4.

Oats: Sep 3.56 1/4 up 4 3/4, Dec 3.68 up 4 1/2, Mar 3.78 1/4 up 4 1/4, May 3.84 3/4 up 4 1/4.
