Mizuno recalls moldy baseball gloves

WASHINGTON, July 8 (UPI) -- Mizuno USA Inc., of Norcross, Ga., is recalling 131,000 baseball and softball gloves due to mold, a federal agency said.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the Mizuno Supreme Series and Ballpark Pro leather gloves were found to have a variety of molds that pose a risk of respiratory infections.

The mold could also be dangerous to consumers with impaired immune systems, the commission said in a statement.

The recall involves six models of gloves that include a white label with the words "Made in Vietnam" sewn to the heel of the glove.

The gloves were sold nationwide from April 2010 through May 2011 for $24 to $60.

Consumers were advised to stop using the gloves and contact Mizuno USA for full refund.
