Gold down slightly

NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- Gold futures fell slightly Friday as equities posted small gains on the New York Stock Exchange.

On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange gold was down 6 cents to $1,537.70 per troy ounce. July delivery crude oil rose 42 cents to reach $100.65 per barrel.

The euro rose to $1.43 from Thursday's $1.4137. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 80.85 yen from Thursday's 81.35 yen.

The dollar was weaker in Europe and Asia.

The dollar traded for 45.17 Indian rupees, compared with 45.31 Indian rupees Thursday. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the U.S. dollar fell to 7.7803, compared with 7.7825.

The Australian dollar rose to $1.0687 compared with $1.0636. The British pound rose to $1.6505 from $1.6390.

The U.S. standard fell to 0.9772 Canadian dollars from 0.9778.
