Guardian full-face diving masks recalled

WASHINGTON, March 22 (UPI) -- Ocean Technology Systems of Santa Ana, Calif., recalled 1,700 diving masks due to flaws in the purging system, U.S. regulators said.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the full-face diving masks imported from Taiwan have purge assemblies that can disengage from the regulator, resulting in loss of air to the diver and increasing the risk of drowning.

The recall involves Guardian diving masks with serial Nos. 9051284 through 100070954.

The diving masks were sold nationwide from September 2010 through November 2010 for about $800. They were sold in blue with black accents.

Consumers were advised to stop using the masks and contact Ocean Technology Systems for instructions on how to test the regulator and, if necessary, return the masks for a free repair.

Consumers can call 877-270-1984 for information.
