Crude oil tops $105 per barrel

NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices flirted with 29-month highs Tuesday with April delivery crude reaching $105 per barrel as fighting continued in Libya.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange gained 54 cents from a morning settlement to reach $105.03. Home heating oil prices shed 0.11 cents to $3.01 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline added 0.08 cents to $2.9475 per gallon.

Henry Hub natural gas shed 1.4 cents to $3.85 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline hit $3.517 per gallon Tuesday from Monday's $3.509, AAA said.
