Crude oil tops $91

NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices churned higher in New York, topping $91 per barrel Tuesday as traders showed concerned about the closed Trans Alaskan Pipeline.

Shut down to repair a leak, the 800-mile pipeline managed by the Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., with deliveries to the West Coast, supplies the lower 48 states with 9 percent to 11 percent of country's daily oil supply.

In New York, February delivery light, sweet crude oil prices added $1.98 to $91.23 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 4.69 cents to $2.603 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices rose 1.27 cents to $2.467 per gallon. Henry Hub natural gas prices headed higher, adding 10.8 cents to $4.507 per million British thermal units.

At the retail level, the national average price of unleaded gasoline headed higher, climbing to $3.089 per gallon from Monday's $3.088, AAA said.
