Glitch leads to double charges

LONDON, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- More than 200,000 people in Britain may have been double-charged on New Year's Eve because of a glitch in a Lloyds Bank payment system, bank officials said.

The bank said the problem was a system error in Lloyds TSB Cardnet terminals, and could affect anyone who paid with a credit card at a restaurant, bar or nightclub using the system to process credit card payments, The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.
