WASHINGTON, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. product regulators said Sterno Group LLC of Des Plaines, Ill., is recalling 37,500 portable butane stoves due to fire and burn hazards.
The stoves, which include faulty on-off valves, were imported from China and sold at sporting goods stores for about $25 from August 2006 through September 2010, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The portable stoves involved in the recall include model numbers STO6001 and 50006.
They measure 14 inches wide, 12 inches across and 4 inches high. "Sterno" is printed on the front and model number UPC 0-27371-50006-9 or UPC 0-76642-06001-6 is printed on the packaging.
Consumers were advised to stop using the stoves and return them to Sterno for a free replacement.
