Grains futures mixed in Chicago Monday

CHICAGO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Grains were mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday -- corn and soybeans higher; wheat and oats lower -- with the dollar index up 0.24 percent.

Corn was up 27 1/2 to up 28 3/4, soybeans were up 17 1/2 to up 20 1/4, wheat was off 6 3/4 to off 10 and oats were off 1/2 to up 3.

Corn prices rose with the U.S. Department of Agriculture weekly crop report pegging 91 percent of the crop in good, very good or excellent shape. Wheat futures fell as Algeria posted a $200 per metric ton duty in durum wheat imports to reduce its stockpile. Soybean futures closed higher with the USDA report that said the harvest is 37 percent complete.

The prices:

Corn: Dec. 5.55 3/4, up 17 1/2; Mar 5.65, up 27 1/2; May 5.70 1/2, up 28; Jul 5.74, up 28 3/4.

Soybeans: Nov 11.52 1/2, up 17 1/2; Jan 11.63, up 18; Mar 11.72 1/4, up 19; May 11.77 1/2, up 20 1/4.

Wheat: Dec 7.09 1/4, off 10; Mar 7.44 1/2, off 9 1/4; May 7.60, off 9 1/2; Jul 7.58 1/4, off 6 3/4.

Oats: Dec 3.69, off 1/2; Mar 3.79, unchanged; May 3.82, up 2; Jul 3.84, up 3.
