BMW recalls 350,000 vehicles

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- German automaker BMW said it would recall 350,000 vehicles due to a potential leak in the power braking system of various models.

BMW North America said 198,000 of the recalled cars were in the United States. The BBC said more than 11,000 were in Britain.

BMW said 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series cars with V-8 and V-12 engines made between 2002 and 2010 were involved in the recall. In addition, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars with the same engines and in the same model years are being recalled.

The company said in a statement that no accidents or injuries have been associated with the problem. The company said, "Mechanical braking is still available to slow and stop the vehicle."

The recall specifically involves the following models: 2002-08 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li and 760i/Li; 2007-08 BMW Alpina B7; 2004-10 BMW 645i and 650i; 2004-10 BMW 545i and 550i; and 2003-10 Rolls-Royce Phantom models.

The recall does not include the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the company said.
