WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. realtor Coldwell Banker said Wednesday the priciest homes in the country were in Newport Beach, Calif., where the average home price is $1.83 million.
Palo Alto, Calif., was the second most expensive community, based on home listings. Palo Alto's average listing costs $1.48 million -- followed by Rye, N.Y., and San Francisco where the average price was $1.33 million -- in a study of more than 18,000 four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes, MarketWatch reported.
Listings in La Jolla, Calif., averaged $1.21 million.
The study, which encompassed 300 housing markets, found prices more down-to-earth in the Midwest.
In Detroit, listed as the most affordable location, average homes in the study cost $68,007. The average price in Grayling, Mich., was $84,625 and the average in Sioux City, Iowa, $85,967 for four bedrooms and two baths.
Cleveland had the highest average of all locations under $100,000, with an average listing of $87,240, Coldwell Banker said.
