The FDA said specific egg shells produced by Wright County farms have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.

The eggs were distributed to food wholesalers, distribution centers and food service companies in California, Arizona, Missouri, Minnesota, Texas, Georgia, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Iowa, Illinois, Utah, Nebraska, Arkansas, Wisconsin and Oklahoma.

Consumers can return the eggs to the point of purchase for a full refund or call Wright Country's toll-free information number at 888 272-5582.
