Belle Vanity benches recalled

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Belle Vanity benches due to a weld that can detach, posing a risk of a fall.

About 1,900 benches were imported from China by LaMont Ltd. of Burlington, Iowa, and sold nationwide from May 2010 through June 2010 for about $70.

They were sold exclusively at Tuesday Morning stores of Dallas.

The benches have ironwork in a scroll design and a padded seat. They are 21 3/4 inches tall, measured at the top rail. The seat measures 18 3/4 inches wide.

The company has received two reports of benches collapsing after a weld failed.

Consumers were advised to stop using the benches and return them to a Tuesday Morning outlet for a refund.

Consumers can call 800-457-0099 for information.
