CHICAGO, July 29 (UPI) -- Grain futures surged higher for the second consecutive day on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday, despite a drop in stock markets.
Soybeans were up 7 3/4 to up 16 1/4, wheat was up 11 3/4 to up 12 1/2 and oats were up 4 1/2 to up 5 1/4.
Wheat futures rose with Romania added onto a list of European countries with drought problems. Soybeans futures Thursday rallied with a lower dollar and a report that said U.S. soy consumption had risen, although the U.S. Census Bureau said current stockpiles of soybean oil had risen to 3.55 billion pounds.

Soybeans: Aug 10.26 3/4, up 16 1/4; Sep 9.92 3/4, up 7 3/4; Nov 9.88, up 10; Jan 9.95 1/2, up 8 3/4.
Wheat: Sep 6.27 1/2, up 12; Dec 6.59 1/2, up 12 1/2; Mar 6.83, up 12 1/4; May 6.88 1/4, up 11 3/4.
Oats: Sep 2.61 1/2, up 4 1/2; Dec 2.74 1/2, up 5 1/4; Mar 2.81 1/2, up 5 1/4; May 2.88 1/2, up 5 1/4.
