Yahoo! and Facebook to integrate services

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 7 (UPI) -- U.S. search engine company Yahoo! Inc. said Monday it would integrate services with Facebook, strengthening its ties to the social Web site's users.

With a launch expected in the next few days, Yahoo! Profile and Facebook users can link their accounts together, allowing those who provide content to Yahoo! "to share their actions with friends back on Facebook." In addition, consumers can find Facebook services on the Yahoo! home page and other Yahoo! products, such as Yahoo! Mail, the company said.

Yahoo! said it would rename Yahoo! Profiles as Yahoo! Pulse "to better reflect its broader ability to manage Yahoo! settings, privacy and account links."

"By integrating with Facebook on a global scale, Yahoo! is building upon an already valuable brand to give people easy ways to share the content they enjoy on Yahoo! with their friends on Facebook," said Ethan Beard, director of Facebook Developer Network in a statement.

Yahoo! said the integration would expand to Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, Flickr, and several other Yahoo! Web sites.
