WASHINGTON, March 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Meijer Roman shades and roll-up window blinds due to a risk of strangulation.
Cords connected to these products pose a risk to children, the commission said in a statement.
About 240,000 shades and blinds, made by Whole Space Industries LTD of Grand Rapids, Mich., were sold at Meijer stores nationwide between January 2004 and December 2009 for about $40 each.
The shades and blinds are made of fabric or bamboo and include a label reading "Innovation" or "At Home with Meijer." under the headrail.
Consumers were advised to stop using these products and contact the Window Covering Safety Council for a free repair kit.
Consumers can call 800-927-8699 for information.
