NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Judges for the 10th annual Toy of the Year event in New York say Zhu Zhu Pets were the top toy of 2009.

Zhu Zhu Pets from Cepia LLC earned the title of top product of 2009 despite the fact the company only employs 16 people.

"This was just an incredible night," Cepia LLC Vice President Bruce Katz said at Saturday night's awards ceremony. "And it's very exciting to have the toy that every child wanted last Christmas."

Zhu Zhu Pets are robotic mini-hamsters with interactive capabilities. The popular toy, which was also named girl toy of the year and innovative toy of the year Saturday, costs $7.99 a piece.

Rubik's Touch Cube was named top electronic entertainment toy of 2009 by TOTY judges, the Daily News reported.

"We took an item that everybody in the whole world knows, and changed the way that you play with it," said TechnoSource President Eric Levin, whose company created the toy.

"It's Rubik's Cube meets the iPhone."
