MILWAUKEE, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Republic Airways Holding Inc. said Tuesday it would consolidate operations, bringing jobs to Milwaukee, while cutting jobs in Denver and Las Cruces, N.M.

The company is expected to bring up to 400 jobs from Denver and Las Cruces to Wisconsin, Chief Executive Officer Bryan Bedford said, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Republic bought Midwest Airlines, based in Milwaukee, on July 31. Two months later, it bought Frontier Airlines, which is based in Denver.

"These additional jobs reaffirm the commitment we've made to the local Milwaukee community since we welcomed Midwest Airlines to the Republic Airways family," Bedford said.

"Our expansion in Milwaukee sends an important message to our current and future frequent fliers and to the local and state communities about our dedication to remain Milwaukee's hometown airline," he said.
