Zero recalls off-road motorcycles

WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Zero off-road motorcycles due to a crash hazard.

Model year 2009 Zero X and Zero MX off-road motorcycles have throttles that can stick in the open position, unexpectedly leading to acceleration, causing the rider to lose control of the motorcycle, the commission said in a statement.

About 200 motorcycles were sold nationwide from December 2008 through August 2009 for between $7,500 and $8,300. Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled motorcycles and contact Zero Motorcycles for a free repair.
