NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Microsoft Corp. unveiled its holiday lineup Tuesday in New York, a mix of new software for work and home, the company said.
Microsoft's head of entertainment and devices said the 2009 holiday season was a combination of software for "lifestyles" and "work-styles," PC World reported Tuesday.
Featured in the announcements were the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system for mobile phones, Windows 7, and updates to portable music device Zune and game platform Xbox, PC World said.
For hand held phones, Windows 6.5 offers new navigation tools and a new digital outlet for phone applications called Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
Microsoft said it will be adding features to allow content downloaded on the Zune to be played on the Xbox, part of a long-term goal to allow greater integration between a variety of devices.
