Big Lots recalls wooden bunk beds

WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Big Lot Stores wooden bunk beds due to fall and collapse hazards.

Big Lots Stores Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, has received 14 reports of the bed's support slats cracking or breaking. Four of the incidents involved minor injuries, the commission said in a statement Wednesday.

About 20,000 beds were imported from Vietnam and sold nationwide from May 2008 through February 2009 for about $300.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled bunk beds and contact Big Lots for a free repair kit.
