Grain futures close mostly lower

CHICAGO, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mostly lower on the Chicago Board of Trade Wednesday as markets on Wall Street closed the day with moderate losses.

Corn was unchanged to up 1; soybeans were off 4 1/2 to off 5 1/4; wheat was off 1 1/2 to off 2 1/4 and oats were off 1 1/2 to off 1 3/4.

Corn futures fell with favorable weather patterns in the Midwest forecast. Egypt's purchase of 330,000 metric tons of wheat Wednesday helped support wheat futures. Soybean fell in sympathy with lower oil prices, despite a falling dollar.

The prices:

Corn: Sep 3.13 1/2, up 1; Dec 3.19 1/4, unchanged; Mar 3.32 1/2, unchanged; May 3.41 1/2, unchanged.

Soybeans: Sep 10.09 1/4, off 4 3/4; Nov 9.51, off 4 1/2; Jan 9.54 1/4, off 5 1/4; Mar 9.54, off 5 1/4.

Wheat: Sep 4.57, off 2 1/4; Dec 4.85 3/4, off 1 1/2; Mar 5.05 1/4, off 1 1/2; May 5.18, off 1 1/2.

Oats: Sep 2.01 1/2, off 1 3/4; Dec 2.14, off 1 1/2; Mar 2.26 3/4, off 1 1/2; May 2.35 1/2, off 1 1/2.
