Crude oil prices climb higher

NEW YORK, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices climbed higher yet on the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday, stopping just short of $74 per barrel.

Crude oil prices have surged this week, gaining more than $7 since Tuesday.

On Friday, prices gained $1.19 overnight to $73.89 per barrel. Heating oil gained 0.064 cents to $1.9049 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline prices rose 0.0096 cents to $1.9956 per gallon. Natural gas prices dropped 0.146 cents to $2.804 per million British thermal units

At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline was $2.625 Friday, up from Thursday's $2.624, AAA said.
