Aqua-Leisure water floats recalled

WASHINGTON, July 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Aqua-Leisure inflatable baby floats due to a drowning hazard.

The leg straps on a variety of the floats can tear, allowing an infant to drop through the float and drown, the commission said in a statement.

The company has received 31 reports of children falling through the seats of the flotation devices. No injuries have been reported.

The floats were imported from China by Aqua-Leisure Industries of Avon, Mass.

About 4 million of the floats were sold nationwide between December 2002 and June 2009 for between $8 and $15.

The floats are designed in 15 models, including the Deluxe Baby Boat, the Baby & Me Combo, the Ticklish Turtle Sunshade Float/Baby Boat and the Quacker Float, shaped as a yellow duck.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled floats immediately and contact Aqua-Leisure for a full refund.

Consumers can call 866-807-3998 for information.
