U.S. crude oil prices hold steady

NEW YORK, May 7 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices held even Thursday after four days of steady gains on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Crude oil prices have gained as upbeat stock markets have hinted that demand would increase.

On Thursday, crude oil climbed 4 cents to $56.38 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0106 cents to $1.4819 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline rose 0.0384 cents to $1.6664 per gallon. Natural gas prices climbed 0.288 cents to $4.158 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.141 Thursday, up from Wednesday's $2.11 a gallon, AAA said.
