CHICAGO, April 17 (UPI) -- Grains closed mostly lower on the Chicago Board of Trade Friday with dry weather in the Midwest allowing farmers a spate of critical field work.
Corn was off 9 1/2 to off 9 3/4, soybeans were off 7 1/2 to off 11, wheat was off 1 1/2 to off 1 3/4 and oats were up 2 to up 2 1/2.
Corn closed lower as soils warm up allowing corn seed to stay safe underground. Wheat closed slightly lower with snow falling on the far western Plains. Soybeans prices fell with farmers in a cautious mood as stockpiles turn lower.

Corn: May 3.76 1/4, off 9 1/2; Jul 3.85 3/4, off 9 1/2; Sep 3.95 1/4, off 9 3/4; Dec 4.07, off 9 3/4.
Soybeans: May 10.51, off 7 1/2; Jul 10.41 1/2, off 9; Aug 10.13, off 8 1/2; Sep 9.71, off 11.
Wheat: May 5.23, off 1 3/4; Jul 5.34 3/4, off 1 3/4; Sep 5.62 1/4, off 1 3/4; Dec 5.84 3/4, off 1 1/2.
Oats: May 1.89, up 2 1/2; Jul 1.97 3/4, up 2; Sep 2.06 3/4, up 2; Dec 2.21, up 2.
