Bank counseling center opens in Chicago

CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- JPMorgan Chase has opened its first "homeownership center" in Chicago to help financially strapped mortgage borrowers find ways to avoid foreclosure.

The bank said it would open 24 centers around the country, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday. The first opened in February.

JPMorgan Chase said it would open a second center in Chicago in the next few weeks. But, most of the centers are planned for Florida, California and other states where foreclosure rates are highest, the bank said.
