Grains close mixed Monday

CHICAGO, April 6 (UPI) -- Grains closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday as wet weather continued to delay field work in much of the U.S. corn belt.

Corn was up 1 to up 1 1/4, soybeans were off 1 1/2 to off 9 1/4, wheat was off 5 3/4 to off 6 3/4 and oats were unchanged to up 1.

Corn closed slightly higher with the U.S. Department of Agriculture reporting year-to-date exports inspections in line with 5-year averages. Wheat traded lower, although freezing weather expected as far south as Texas has raised concern of serious winter wheat crop damage. Soybeans closed lower with Argentina reporting its harvest 25 percent completed.

Corn: May 4.05 1/2, up 1; Jul 4.15 3/4, up 1; Sep 4.24 3/4, up 1 1/4; Dec 4.36 3/4, up 1 1/4.

Soybeans: May 9.94, off 1 1/2; Jul 9.93 1/2, off 1 3/4; Aug 9.71, off 5 3/4; Sep 9.37, off 9 1/4.

Wheat: May 5.57, off 6 1/2; Jul 5.69, off 6 3/4; Sep 5.94 1/4, off 6 1/4; Dec 6.16 3/4, off 5 3/4.

Oats: May 2.00, up 1; Jul 2.09 1/4, up 3/4; Sep 2.17, unchanged; Dec 2.32, unchanged.
