Grains mixed Monday

CHICAGO, March 30 (UPI) -- Grains closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday as equities fell hard on Wall Street and oil prices dropped.

Corn was off 3/4 to off 1, soybeans were off 12 1/2 to off 17 1/4, wheat was up 5 to up 5 3/4 and oats were off 2.

Corn closed lower as rains were expected in the corn belt through the middle of the week. Early trading supported wheat prices Monday, with dry areas of the Plains looking at a drier-than-average long range forecast. Soybeans exports were down in the week, compared to a week ago, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture said 20,000 metric tons were shipped to unknown destinations Monday.

Corn: May 3.86 1/4, off 3/4; Jul 3.96 3/4, off 3/4; Sep 4.06, off 1; Dec 4.18 1/4, off 1.

Soybeans: May 9.04 1/2, off 12 1/2; Jul 9.02, off 13 1/4; Aug 8.86, off 14 3/4; Sep 8.54 1/2, off 17 1/4.

Wheat: May 5.12 1/2, up 5 1/4; Jul 5.25 1/4, up 5 1/4; Sep 5.51 1/2, up 5 3/4; Dec 5.74 1/2, up 5.

Oats: May 1.93, off 2 1/2; Jul 2.02, off 2; Sep 2.11, off 2; Dec 2.26, off 2.
