Wendy's announces job cuts and shifts

DUBLIN, Ohio, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Wendy's, recently purchased by Arby's owner Triarc Cos. Inc., said it would shift 120 Dublin, Ohio, jobs to Atlanta in 2009.

The company also said about 45 Dublin positions would be eliminated, The Columbus Dispatch reported Thursday.

Triarc purchased Wendy's in September for $2.3 billion. The new company is called Wendy's/Arby's Group.

"Wendy's employees have known a number of shared services positions would be moved to Atlanta," Wendy's spokesman Bob Bertini said.

Technically, 74 field positions in areas such as quality control, real estate, marketing and finance will be cut, the Dispatch reported. But, 15 of those jobs are currently unfilled and 14 of those staff members will be switched to other jobs, the company said.
