Tween Brands recalls three products

WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Tween brand necklaces, CD and MP3 players due to lead paint violations.

The recall involves three products sold at Limited Too and Justice retail stores: Children's Ball and Heart Necklaces and Portable CD and MP3 Players imported from China by Tween Brands Inc. of New Albany, Ohio.

Surface coatings on these products could contain levels of lead higher than allowed by federal paint standards, the commission said.

About 12,000 units were sold from May 2007 through August 2008. The necklaces, with pink beads and a heart attached in the center, sold for about $8 each. The CD players sold for about $25 and the portable MP3 Players sold for about $55.

Consumers were advised to take these products away from children and return them to retailers for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-934-4497 for information.
